CINQKU
#1
nesting
rooks among
the bursting buds--
stick by stick,Ides of March
unfold

#2
muffled
bells echo
across the square---
sepia memories
surface

# 3
a light
frost whitens
the frozen verge---
inert below,summer
awaits

#4
a thick
mist blankets
the winter dawn---
necklaced jewels bedeck
the hedge

#5
August
shaded gold
becomes monsoon---
berries rot beneath the
bramble

#6
dank fog
envelops
a bonfire night---
the party becomes a
damp squib

#7
under
the hedge a
welcome haven---
down my neck raindroplets
trickle

#8
dozing
on the lawn
St Swithin's day---
large round spots slash into
my lap

#9
five toes
and a pad
imprint the snow--
hunger brings a stranger
at night

#10
winter
arrives late--
in th forest
a stoat melts into a
snowdrift

#11
layers
of deep cloud
linger all day---
depression cateracts
insight

#12
sunlight
on the tiles
dusted with snow--
rivulets overflow
the butt

#13
over
the stubble
carrion crows---
the gamekeeper heads home
for tea

#14
blossom,
a welcome
springtime emblem---
the foretaste of fruitage
to come

#15
the first
heavy frost
whitens the lawn--
overnight fall becomes
winter

#16
smitten
by a smile,
the warmth of love
engaged and now lives on---
engraved
